Cooper’s adopters, Tony & Veronica
Sometimes, when you least expect it, a little furry friend will approach you and steal your heart forever.
That’s the tale of Tony and Veronica, and a naughty boy called Cooper. Two years ago, for the first time, SOSD rescued a Portuguese Water Dog. This boy, who was young, healthy and handsome, was somehow surrendered by his previous owner to the pound to be put to sleep. Through AVA’s rehoming program, he was given a new lease of life when bailed out. His charming eyes quickly caught the eye of Tony and Veronica, who adopted him soon after, in 2014.
Veronica and Tony describe Cooper as sometimes being “noisy and overly protective at times”, but while he is far from being the perfect family dog, Veronica and Tony still dote on him unconditionally.
“We are not exactly sure at which point we became “family” but I remember vividly that he took it upon himself to partake in our family group hug”, shares Veronica Tan.
Having Cooper means that both their lives are always far from being boring: “He is full of energy and has been crowned the family’s Drama King – we get the same rousing welcome whether we are away for 2 hours or 2 minutes!”
“To others, it’ll appear as though we rescued him but we are pretty sure that it’s the other way around. With his shining eyes, unconditional affection and a bushy tail powered by love, we are definitely blessed to have Cooper in our lives.”
Finally, a little twist in the happy ending – Cooper is not a Portuguese Water Dog after all, but more likely an Italian Truffle Dog. But whatever breed he is does not matter. What matters is that, he now knows that he is in good hands, and will never end up abandoned, and almost losing his life again.
Thank you Veronica and Tony, for giving Cooper a loving home!
Many more dogs in SOSD are waiting for a happy ending like Coopers. Meet our 20 dogs for adoption this Sunday! There will be HDB approved dogs and puppies too!
